Sam Loeffler
Chevelle
Overview
Sam Loeffler is the drummer for the multi platinum Chicago based Rock band, Chevelle. Sam started playing drums at the same time his brother Pete picked up a guitar. They both had an instant interest in writing their own music more so than playing the music of other artists. This early decision has led to a long career of creating new music and putting positive art out into the world. Sam's preferred setup consists of small drums and big cymbals for a tight but full sound. "I just want to be an interesting player. I want to add to the songs and make it special but mostly, just encouraging and supporting a great melody in a great song. That has been my goal as a drummer. One of the things I love about drumming is that you can give the same beat to 10 different people and it will be interpreted differently by every one of them. Even in the simplest of rhythms." Sam continues to practice, play and write in the bands studio outside of Chicago with his brother Pete, as well as touring the US and the world.
