Mitch Dorge
Independent
Overview
Mitch premiered with Crash Test Dummies in 1991. In 1994, God Shuffled His Feet (12 million copies world wide) saw him not only functioning as drummer but also co produced the album. Juno’s, Grammy’s, North American Music Awards, Letterman, The Tonight Show, Late Night with Conan O’Brian, Arsenio Hall and of course Saturday Night Live were all welcomed highlights during extensive and exhaustive touring.
Montreal Drum Festival, Cape Breton Drum Festival, Vancouver Drum Festival, Victoria Drum Festival along with clinic tours across Germany and Canada filled in “non touring time”. Writing for Canadian Musician Magazine and snippets and quotes for Rhythm Magazine kept hotel relaxation to a minimum.
In 2002, Mitch released “As Tress Walking”, an ambient recording which garnered a Prairie Music Award for Best Ambient Recording. Recording and touring with Lindsey White, Doug Edmond, Michaela Loewen, Burnt Project 1, Charlie Redstar and scoring film and TV filled the gap while Crash Test Dummies took some time off.
In 2019, Crash Test Dummies came off hiatus and found themselves touring extensively once again. At one point, Mitch was playing staggered shows with Crash Test Dummies AND Fred Penner. Home long enough to reunite with Hart Rouge/Folle Avoine for a sold out concert with only time enough for 1 rehearsal…. the man has been busy,
